New BNI Mercury member Agnė Skvernienė: “Be open to new experiences and make the most of your opportunities”

Agnė Skvernienė, CEO of Intornas, has joined the BNI Mercury Export Chapter as a new member. We are very pleased to welcome her to our community and believe that she will enrich the chapter with her drive, experience, and unique insights, thus contributing to our common goal of strengthening business relations and continuously exploring new opportunities.

We invite you to get to know Agnė better. She shares her expectations, goals, and plans after joining the BNI Mercury chapter in this article.

From the art world to the family business executive chair

“Intornas” is a company specializing in producing aluminum structures and canopies as well as glazing terraces and balconies.

Although Agnė joined the business only in March 2022 (and became its manager in May 2024), she has been involved in the company for many years. She shares, “My husband’s mother and her husband founded the company. Since my husband and I have known each other for more than 19 years, <…> I have been involved in the conversations and discussions about “Intornas'” projects for all these years. Sometimes we joke that if someone had told me, a girl in her twenties, that I would one day be the head of this company, I would have laughed.” At the time, Agnė was working in musical theater, and later her career path took her to the pharmaceutical industry, where she worked for 15 years.

International horizons motivated to join BNI Mercury

When asked how she found out about BNI Mercury’s export chapter and what prompted her to join, Agnė says: “I was looking for an entrepreneurial community that matched my current need to grow my company and expand my network of contacts. I noticed the posts on BNI’s LinkedIn and then started visiting local chapters. After a longer conversation with Nerijus (National Director of BNI Lithuania and BNI Latvia – ed.), I realized I should try BNI Mercury.”

The entrepreneur identifies three main reasons why she eventually became a part of the BNI Mercury community:

  • The opportunity to expand export destinations.
  • Value-aligned meeting dynamics.
  • The opportunity to have international events.

What are the expectations and added value that Agnė sees in the BNI community?

By joining BNI Mercury, Agnė hopes that her membership will help the long-established company “Intornas” to become even more recognizable. “For a long time, we worked in a guerrilla mode; we were only known by word of mouth. I think we are professionals in our field with a lot of experience, and we deserve to be known and seen in wider waters,” she says. In fact, Agnė sees BNI not only as a great platform to expand her business contacts but also as an opportunity to share them with her colleagues in the chapter: “I have many years of experience not only in the construction sector, so the contacts I have <…> will definitely help existing members.”

Most memorable moment of the first month of membership and a closely related BNI value

One of the highlights of Agnė’s first month at BNI Mercury was a visit by a BNI member to her production facility. “It always seemed like we were unworthy, uninteresting, maybe too far away, maybe not modern enough, but I saw that everything was in my head. I am very grateful to Tomas for this visit”, she says. As for BNI’s values, the entrepreneur emphasizes that all of them are important to her, but Givers Gain is probably the closest. After all, the more we give to others, the greater the return we get in our business or personal growth. That’s what BNI is all about – not just exchange, but collaboration, building a strong community where you can trust everyone in it.

Agnė’s motto and message to the future members of BNI

The greatest victories are not achieved by competing with others but by overcoming one’s own inner challenges – believes Agnė Skvernienė. “If you beat others, you are strong; if you beat yourself, you are invincible.” And what does the new BNI Mercury team wish for the future members of the chapter? Agnė encourages: “Have no preconceived expectations, be open to new experiences and make the most of every opportunity.”
